The European Parliament once again asked the European Commission to prepare a draft regulation that would introduce mandatory "made in" labels on goods imported from third countries. So far, the Member States (and their representatives in the Council) were not able to agree on mandatory origin labels, which harms consumers' interests, weakening their right to make informed choices and enabling traders to mislead consumers. The European Parliament believes, however, that the European Commission should attempt another approach to this issue and not just drop it completely.
